Where I work from
Land Acknowledgement
I am not of Indigenous descent. The generations before me did not originate on this land. I live in Tkaronto, now known as Toronto, which in Mohawk means “where there are trees standing in the water”.
Today, Tkaronto is covered under the Toronto Purchase, Treaty #13 (1805) and the Williams Treaties (1923). It is the traditional territories of many First Peoples, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples.
I am committed to learning the history of the peoples of the land and the impact of colonization historically and today. While my work continues, it guides my investment of time and philanthropic giving.
