Zentangle®
A mindful practice that brings leaders back to clarity
Strengthens focus, reduces friction, and reconnects leaders and teams to presence.

Leadership often asks us to think fast, decide quickly, and stay steady under pressure. But clarity doesn’t come from pushing harder. It comes from slowing down enough to see straight.
Zentangle® is one of the most effective tools I’ve found for helping leaders and teams do exactly that.
What it is
The practice
A simple, meditative drawing method built on repetitive strokes, structured patterns and intentional focus. You don’t need artistic skill. The practice is non‑representational and unplanned. You’re not trying to make something, you’re drawing one stroke at a time.
Why it helps leaders
- Reduce stress and overwhelm
- Increase focus and cognitive flexibility
- Quiet self‑criticism and perfectionism
- Support emotional regulation
- Strengthen problem‑solving and creative thinking
- Improve presence and attentional control
Zentangle® activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping leaders shift from urgency and reactivity into steadiness and clarity.
Why it helps teams
From assumptions to understanding
In my workshops every participant creates a single tile, each one unique, shaped by individual strengths and approaches. Then we bring them together into a mosaic. That moment is always profound: it shows teams, visually and immediately, how individual contributions form something stronger together. The mosaic becomes a metaphor for Collective Trust.
- Every person contributes something essential
- Unique strengths create collective beauty
- Diversity of thought and approach is an asset
- Collaboration doesn’t require sameness
- Trust grows when people feel seen and valued
How it fits into my work
Stand‑alone sessions
For individuals, small groups or community sessions, introducing the method, teaching the foundations, and giving participants space to experience it directly.
Integrated into a workshop
Woven into leadership intensives, team development, or longer workshops. It pairs naturally with trust‑centred work and emotional intelligence.
Why I include it in leadership work
Because leadership isn’t only cognitive. It’s emotional, relational, intuitive and creative. I found Zentangle® by accident in 2012 while looking for quilting software, and became a Certified Zentangle® Teacher in Providence, Rhode Island in 2018.
